Weyside Rotary Club has a reputation for being one in which service to those less fortunate is offered by a group of people, who are not only motivated to put something back into the community in which they have prospered, but who are also naturally-inclined to have a great deal of fun in doing it.
Our meetings are very informal and always include a great deal of humour. Our membership is diverse and represents a wide variety of  businesses and professions. The collective talent is such that we have never won a quiz but always organise one that others flock to for the fun. We have an annual event where grown adults get to play with yellow plastic ducks in the cascading, white-water torrent of the River Wey, all in the interest of relieving locals of their money for charity, and we have international champions in boules and real tennis - or so they tell us.
We occasionally hear French, Scouse, Danish  and Norwegian expressions from certain members, and some of our members are even sad enough to support Everton F.C.,  or the England cricket and Rugby teams.
Our membership includes a number of musicians who display a range of talents, some of whom have actually been known to be paid for their music!
The popular “Shadows” tribute band “Out of the Shadows” is led by members of the Club.
Our Club is twinned (“jumelage” in French) with the Rotary Club of Liège Rive Droite in Belgium.
On alternate years a group from each club spends a weekend hosted by the other. These exchange visits, usually made in early September, have built up a strong bond between the two clubs and between the members of each.
Many of our projects involve co-operative ventures between two or more clubs. Although Farnham Weyside is in Rotary District 1250, Farnham’s geographical location in the extreme north-west of that District means that we have close links with clubs in adjacent districts. In particular with clubs such as Aldershot, Rushmoor, Farnborough, Odiham etc.
One such event is the Annual “Kids Out” day, a fun-filled gathering of disabled children from a wide area, which is organised by a number of Rotary Clubs from within a 30-mile radius of Aldershot Military Rugby Ground where the event is held. Children partake in a variety of events, according to their abilities, ranging from ball-games to the ever-popular face-painting.
